Everything you need to know before your first session with us.

What TVI is
Here at The Volleyball Institute, volleyball is our tool to transform lives. We take technical, disciplined training seriously, but this is about more than sport for us. Our true passion is building the confidence and resilience athletes carry into every part of life.
We’re not a team. Athletes train with us, then take what they’ve learned back to the team they already play for. We’d never ask anyone to leave one.
Choosing a format
Five ways to train with TVI:
- Private Training
Lessons built around you, new or experienced. Train one-on-one, bring a friend or teammate for a 2:1 lesson, or build your own group of 3 to 6. - Mini‑Group Training
Scheduled classes for athletes who want focused work on one skill or position, with others at a similar level. Sign up for one spot; no group needed. - Foundations
Volleyball once a week for ages 7 to 18, new or experienced, for 4 to 12 weeks where it runs. Grouped by age, then skill level. - Team Camps
For a whole team, in your own gym. Your head coach and a TVI Hub Leader plan it around your program, and TVI Trainers run it. - Special Clinics
Occasional multi-hour clinics with hand-picked TVI Trainers, usually by invitation. Each one sets its own focus.
Not sure which fits? These four questions help you choose regular training at your Hub.

Your first session
- Most sessions are 60 minutes. Team Camps and Special Clinics run longer.
- Bring athletic shoes for indoor courts (non-marking), knee pads, a water bottle and comfortable clothes. We provide all the training equipment, and there’s no uniform.
- Arrive 5 minutes early. Wait off the court until your Trainer lets you in.
- Check your Hub’s page for your gym’s address and directions, and its arrival notes where we have them.
- Parents can stay and watch, or drop off. At our Joliet gym, an adult must stay for the whole lesson.
Booking
Booking happens on our booking page. You’ll need a free account — it’s created the first time you register, so just start booking and you’ll be prompted.
One account covers your whole family. To add another child, register them for their first lesson and you’ll be asked to add a new member at checkout.
Private lessons can be booked until 24 hours before they start. Classes can be booked right up to their start time while spots remain.
Changes, cancellations and refunds

- A full refund with no fee, or credit if you’d rather.
When you cancel, we take a 3.5% processing fee out of a card refund. Credit has no fee. Refunds start automatically within 48 hours and can take several days to reach your card.
Reschedule a Private Training session yourself (same Trainer, location and month) from the Bookings tab in your booking account. For anything else, or to cancel a class, email us.
The app, reminders and your calendar
See the app and calendar steps
Our booking app, SportsEngine Motion, is handy but optional: you can do everything on our booking page in a browser too. You’ll get a confirmation when you book and an update if a lesson changes, but no automatic reminders. To see your sessions in your phone’s calendar, open the Calendar page of your account on our booking page (in a browser, not the app) and subscribe.
