Setters Mental Training Groups

  • Setters are often referred to as the “quarterback of the court” because they are in charge of calling plays and choosing who to set when. There is a huge mental component to setting.

Setters need to be able to stay calm under pressure, make decisions quickly, understand and work with each player’s strengths and weaknesses, and bounce back quickly after mistakes (they don’t get to take a point off).

In these sessions, we will talk about, as well as practice these components so setters build these skills and can confidently command the court and run a great offense.

  • In addition to practicing the physical techniques involved in setting, the main focus of these sessions will be practicing all of the other skills that setters need to master. Things like running an offense, knowing their teammates, making decisions quickly, shaking off mistakes, understanding the flow of the game, being able to make changes quickly, staying calm amidst the chaos, and more.

  • Q: How many people will be in these groups?

A: No more than 10 athletes

Q: Does it matter what level my athlete is?

A: Nope! All ages and skill levels are welcome! We can adjust the expectations based on each athlete.
