Eileen Chavez

  • Eileen is currently committed to playing volleyball at WashU in St. Louis. She played volleyball all throughout high school on varsity, as well as at club where she played on WildCats which then became MOD.

  • My specialties include training technique, especially within the setting position. I am best at helping athletes starting out their volleyball career, in order to ensure they have a strong foundation and all the knowledge other athletes in their age group usually learn through prior experience. I have the most experience training girls, and used to coach at MOD before moving to TVI.

  • I am a big advocate of being able to understand the why behind what athletes need to work on. I want athletes to understand and be able to adjust what they’re doing during games to be able to play their best no matter the situation. Developing a volleyball IQ and confidence is extremely important, as I believe volleyball is just as much a mental game as it is physical, if not more. Having an open dialogue between coach and athlete is crucial, especially as I want every athlete to find out who they are as a player, and what works best for them. I believe the best way to help an athlete improve is to listen and encourage them to reflect and share what they feel they are struggling with, as they know themselves best.
